Spring 2013 Bloggers Quilt Festival...

It’s that time of year again!

This is my Entry into Blogger Quilt Festival,
I really enjoyed making this Quilt. The pattern is Ballerina by Jaybird Quilts.
The fabric used is Ticklish by Me & My Sister.
This is a very simple quilt to put together so don’t be intimidated by the angles!
I quilted feathers in the swirls the same as the original quilt but decided to do pebbling in the negative space.

Thanks for coming by for the visit, if you are on Facebook come on over and like my page or follow me on Instagram. Thanks to Amy for hosting the Festival again. Now I’m off to check out all the other quilts in the festival,

More Feathers.....

I have a few things to share today. This is my Ric Rac quilt made from a Simply Color Layer Cake. I loved quilting this one with feathers and paisley.

Feathers are soooo addictive!!!!
My next Quilt will eventually end up on my wall

This quilt grew very organically;
it is actually the first block from Toes in the Sand by Jaybird Quilts. I got a bit waylaid and kept making the blocks and this is what happened, I Love it!

This quilt top is made from Me & My Sister's new range Shades of Black. Thanks Kelli for the math on the Scrappy trip along with no wastage!

Feathers......

I know I said I would blog more, I know I’m bad but I have been a busy girl...promise!
Look this is what I have been doing!
I have been quilting with my new obsession Feathers!
This quilt is one I thought I would have a practice on before I did a customer’s quilt,
I’m happy with the result, as it took a fairly ugly quilt to something I’m quite proud of!
This is the customer’s quilt that I have just finished, so happy with this one, I even want to make this pattern up so I can quilt one the same for me.

Closeup of the Quilting, I did swirls with the feathers coming out of them
This one just before I took it off the Gammill

I have finished my scrappytripalong, now I’m just waiting for the weather to cool down so I can snuggle!

I have just started holidays from my main job so things will be a bit more Quilty around home for a couple of weeks...yay! So join me over on Instagram or like my page on Facebook and you will get everything a little quicker than the blog, but I will be back!!!
To infinity and beyond...

Scrappy Trip Along meets Free Motion Swirls!

I have a few things to share today!

First up is my Scrappytripalong Quilt! I’m so happy with how this has turned out. The fabrics I have used are all Australian Designers.
A lot of these fabrics were in the never to be cut pile unless a special Quilt came along, well guess what?
Go over to Quiltville for the instructions
but beware it won’t take much to be hooked!
I free motion quilted it with swirls, can’t go wrong with swirls right? I have also recently changed my thread to Aurafil 50wt and it is beautiful to work with. I have also pieced the quilt using the Aurafil 50wt and believe me the seams just disappear. If you haven’t used it yet, give it a go!
I have also finished this Quilt. It may be small but it took forever! I did mainly ruler work to make the tiles with a stipple on the inside, will defiantly be doing this again but will change the inside pattern!
This is another finish I have done this weekend; a work friend needed a Library tote for her 5 Year old that has just started school. This is what I came up with!
I’m now off to add the binding on my new favourite quilt hopefully I will get some sewn down before the heat heats later in the week,

Going Viral.............

If you are on Instagram then you will already be familiar with the #scrappytripalong that has gone totally viral in the last few days! I finally reneged and joined in the fun. I used a Boho Jelly Roll by Urban Chiks.
The Jelly roll only makes 12 Blocks which makes it a perfect Baby Quilt.
It went together in a matter of hours.
I timed the blocks and they took 25 minutes each to make.

My next project is
On a Whim by Camille Roskelly

I only have another 16 blocks to go on this one,
these take slightly longer tan 25mins...lol

Fabric is The Birds and The Bees by Tula Pink
The grey fabric is a Ruby, which I think frames the fabrics wonderfully.
The solid is Bella Solids in Feather.
I have also been working on a project from Sarah Fielke's Craftsy Class. She explains Needleturn Applique in simple terms and it's been lots of Fun!

The First Customer Quilt for 2013 is loaded on the Gammill...

My New Year’s resolution should have been to blog more, so hopefully now that I have had a break things will get back to normal. I have also realised that you cannot do everything, so I’m trying to slow down and enjoy the roses so to speak!
I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Festive season! I hold out a lot of hopes that 2013 will be a good year, fingers crossed that I’m right!
