Going Viral.............

If you are on Instagram then you will already be familiar with the #scrappytripalong that has gone totally viral in the last few days! I finally reneged and joined in the fun. I used a Boho Jelly Roll by Urban Chiks. 

The Jelly roll only makes 12 Blocks which makes it a perfect Baby Quilt.

It went together in a matter of hours. 

I timed the blocks and they took 25 minutes each to make.

I only have another 16 blocks to go on this one,

 these take slightly longer tan 25mins...lol

 Fabric is The Birds and The Bees by Tula Pink

The grey fabric is a Ruby, which I think frames the fabrics wonderfully.

 The solid is Bella Solids in Feather. 

I have also been working on a project from Sarah Fielke's Craftsy Class. She explains Needleturn Applique in simple terms and it's been lots of Fun!

My New Year’s resolution should have been to blog more, so hopefully now that I have had a break things will get back to normal. I have also realised that you cannot do everything, so I’m trying to slow down and enjoy the roses so to speak!

I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Festive season! I hold out a lot of hopes that 2013 will be a good year, fingers crossed that I’m right!

Bloggers Quilt Festival...

This is my entry for the Bloggers Quilt Festival
This quilt is one that I made up as I went along,and I simply adore it, and so do a few of my followers apparently as I have had a few requests for a Tutorial... Wow.
This is not quite a Tutorial but this is how I constructed the Quilt.

So Here Goes...

Oh... a few things first:

*You Need a Lazy Angle Ruler for this Quilt!*

These are not instructions for a Beginner ...

This is more a basic of how I put the Quilt together as guide for you, but I am happy to help you with an questions you might have.
Fabric:
I used :  

1 Jelly Roll of your choice
2 yards of Contrast fabric

3/4 yard Tiny Border

1 1/2 yards Large Border

¾ yard Binding

4 yards for Backing

You will be able to make a Quilt the same size
 as mine ( with leftovers), if you decide on a bigger size
 you will need to increase your fabric accordingly.

 I used a Make Life Jelly Roll,

 and then I removed all the brown ones
 as they are not my Favourite!

I then put them into sets of 3, and sewed them together WOF.

Use a Square ruler to remove the selvages to straighten the starting edge.

Using instructions that were included with your lazy angle ruler,

Cut an A piece for a 6.5” block, spin the ruler 180 degrees and the cut the second piece, continue doing this until all fabric has been cut.

Take your contrast fabric and cut 4 x 6.5” strips WOF.

Once again remove selvages so you commence cutting with a straight edge.

Cut a B piece for a 6.5 block spin the ruler 180 for the second piece,

 Continue until all the fabric is cut...

Now you need to match an A and B piece and sew them together, take into account your ¼” seam when matching the pieces together.

Sew all pieces together keeping them in sets of 4.

Now it’s time to sew together.

Each set is made up from the same blocks it just depends on which way you rotate the blocks. One will have a tiny cross in the centre and the other will have a large cross in the centre.

   Using a design floor or wall place your blocks out

in a pleasing matter,

I found this easier before I put the 4 blocks together in

 to 1 large block, so I could have the mix of colours correct

When happy sew them into rows of 4 alternating tiny cross and large cross blocks.

I had left over blocks so you can make it any size you want

 or you could use the leftover blocks in the backing.

Sew rows together.

I then added a 2.5” border using the contrast fabric so it gives the impression of the blocks floating.

I followed this with another 2.5” border, then a 4.5” border.

Single Girl Quilt Along....

Not that I needed anything else to fill in my day but, I couldn't resist!

The Idea that everyone could possibly do the single girl quilt together was too alluring.

After all when a support group is formed you know that you probably shouldn't attempt this pattern by yourself, or risk sitting under the desk sucking your thumb!

My pattern only turned up yesterday, so I spent my Friday Night cutting my templates out.

  I'm using a new line for Moda called Just Wing It, which is me to a tee.

Templates have never been my thing, so it's a big huge step for me, And it is circular so it will be interesting!!

There are 36 Fabrics for each ring and I'm still unsure of whether to do a Baby Quilt at 4 Rings or really go for it and do 9 rings.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Spring 2010

Thanks Amy for Hosting The Blogger's Quilt Festival

This is one of the First Quilts I made.

It may look familiar to all who read my Blog as it's the first thing you see when logging on.

I had always loved the movement of Bargello Quilts, and I wanted to do one in Bright Kaffee Fassett Fabrics.

It took 20 Jelly Roll strips and once I got my head around sewing them into tubes ,the Quilt was simple to put together.

I Quilted it with an E2E Pattern that has Flowers and Butterflys on it.

This Quilt taught me not to be daunted by anything and to just Give It a go.

Zipperty Doo Dah Done!

I have finally finished the binding on My Monster bed Quilt.

I slept with it on the bed last night and absolutely Cooked, so we may have to wait for a few more weeks before we can use it fulltime,but at least we are ready for Winter!

Hexagon Blocks Together!

Hexagons for the Quilt Along are together so I have caught up with everyone else.

I was also sucked in with P.S I Quilts Pinwheel Sampler Quilt.

When I saw the finished Quilt I decided to join in,only 12 weeks late!!!!!!

This Fabric is Woodstock,I simply Adore the Bright Colours.

Well I have pieced 8 blocks (only 8 to go) with a deadline of two weeks to have the top together,quilted and binding on.

Triangles cut for Quilt Along

Here are my Triangles for the start of the Quilt Along.For all the Aussie Girls in the Quilt Along,I have used Westalee's Equilateral Ruler, No Affil's I just Love their Products.Anything that makes life easier is Good!

Block 3 Jelly Roll Sampler

This is the 3rd Block in the sampler,
I can't wait to see the finished quilt!

It's a Good Friday

Today I have finished the Binding on my Merry & Bright Jelly Roll Quilt.

This quilt was made for Xmas 2009 so I'm not that late :)

It's made using Jelly Roll strips only.

One full Jelly Roll of Merry & Bright and 1/2 a Cherry Red Moda Plain Jelly Roll for the Sashing,Borders and Binding.

The backing of my quilt is made up of leftovers, this is the first pieced backing I have done, and I'm very happy with it.

I have quilted it with a holly and berry design.

Kelli my sis n law and I made a pact that this was the year for ufo's to be gone,we also said no more buying of fabric unless we finished a project. (Oops,I have failed that part)

So I can happily say that I have finished another project, only __ left to go!

Too scared to count!

Now I'm off to do Block 3 of the quilt along.
